Weddings

     Weddings are one of our very favorite events to photograph. Through our wedding photography we have met wonderful couples. Sharing in their Wedding day has brought us great joy and we have formed long lasting friendships that we treasure. We especially enjoy doing Bridal and Engagement sessions in advance of the Wedding. This allows us to get to know the couple, learn their photographic likes and dislikes, and get all parties comfortable with each other. Photos are always better when everybody is comfortable and knows each other!

     We approach weddings with what I would describe as a modified photo-journalistic style. We like to stay out of the way for the most part and photograph the day in the manner in which it unfolds. However, we recognize that some photos will need to be posed to some degree and some moments benefit from a second go at it from a different angle. For instance, while we always photograph the ring exchange as it is occurring at the altar, we frequently will do a quick exchange again during the formal photo session to get several different angles and some closeups. During the ceremony itself we consider Flash photography to be strictly off limits unless discussed ahead of time. Even in those cases, we will try to keep things as low key as possible. We believe that the ceremony is a sacred thing that is not to be interrupted or disturbed by our presence. We use a variety of techniques, long lenses, and slow quiet movement to create the images from the altar that you see in our galleries without intruding upon the sanctity of the event. By combining minor posing and a photo-journalistic approach overall, we can try to ensure that we get pictures of everything that is important to you in a variety of ways. We also like to incorporate some more traditional posed portraits into the coverage, most commonly in the 30 minutes or so after the ceremony. Your wedding is a time when many people come together; we believe that it's important to photograph the special family members and people as well.

     We recognize how important your day is to you and will do everything we can to enhance the experience, rather than detract from it. Even if you are not interested in a Bridal or Engagement session, and just want one of our smaller packages, we would very much like to get together in person with you to discuss your desires and how we can provide photographs that you will love. Portraits

      If you are interested in having portraits done by Shutter Snap Studios there are a few things to consider. First of all, we love to shoot on location and will gladly travel anywhere within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for no additional travel fee. We also have a long list of places we enjoy photographing that we can recommend to you. We also are comfortable with shooting in your home, backyard, or anywhere that has a special personal attachment for you. The most important thing to us is that you are comfortable with the location and are excited about it. The more comfortable and excited you are the better the photos will be! If you are interested in a more typical portrait setting we also can work with you to create such, please contact us to discuss it further.

     Another important consideration when it comes to portraits is how much time to allot and when the ideal time for photography is. We typically do not like to be in a rush and will take quite a few photos during the session. We are all digital so running out of film is not an issue, and we definitely use this to our advantage! We prefer to shoot in the evening, starting about an hour and a half before sunset. It is not unusual for a portrait session to run to two, or even three hours. This is especially true when it comes to photographing small children, babies, or bridal and engagement portraits. While we definitely prefer to shoot during the "golden hour" we are more than willing to work around your schedule and we can adapt to virtually any situation.

     What a person (or family) wears for a portrait is very important. The optimal clothing choice is also very dependent on the style of the portrait (ie: black and white, on location, in a studio setting, etc). For more information on choosing the best attire for your portrait please look here!

     There are many options available to you as a Shutter Snap Studios customer when it comes to ordering your actual portraits. You can expect that for any shoot we will show you a broad array of images captured that day with a variety of presentations including black and white, sepia, etc. Also, if you would like to see a particular image in a format we did not show you in the proofs we are happy to do the conversion at no additional charge. Also, basic color correction, exposure and contrast adjustment is standard for all photos. All photos that are printed are also retouched for any fly-away hairs, minor blemishes etc. If you have any questions about the actual specific steps we take to edit a photo, feel free to ask! We can also have your images printed many different ways. From fine art watercolor paper to gallery wrapped canvas, we can always provide exactly what you are looking for.

     Finally, one thing to keep in mind about location portraits is that some locations have a fee associated with them. If you choose to have portraits at a location which has fees associated with it you will be responsible for paying the fee but Shutter Snap Studios will be more than happy to handle any permit applications or other paperwork that needs to be taken care of.

Events

     No matter what your event need we can handle it. In the past we have covered birthdays, graduation parties, confirmations, casino nights, anniversaries, and more. We cover the event in a photojournalistic fashion and try to remain as un-intrusive as possible. We strive to capture spontaneous moments of interaction between the guests of your event as well as any important moments, speeches, toasts, gift presentations etc. that will occur. Also, at the event we have cards available with information about where the photos from the event can be viewed and ordered. We guarantee that photos will be online in a password protected gallery for your guests to view and order within 5 days of the event. Also, you will automatically receive a free DVD with web sized images from the event to e-mail to your friends and family. Commercial

     We have worked with several large organizations commercially. We have created photo directories for large groups of people. We have also photographed several hundred new hires for a large company that wanted to celebrate them joining the team.
